“Love the sinner, hate the sin”
That is not Biblical. Jesus hates some sinners, aren’t we to be like Jesus?
Psalm 11:5 The Lord examines the righteous, but the wicked, those who love violence, he hates with a passion.
Leviticus 20:23 Moreover, you shall not follow the customs of the nation which I shall
drive out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I have abhorred them.
Proverbs 6:16 There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an
abomination to Him: 17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed
innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run
rapidly to evil, 19 A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads
strife among brothers.
We are actually told by God to hate:
Romans 12:9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
I catch so much flack for hating certain things, but Jesus hated things, so why is it wrong for us to do as Jesus did? Why are people so afraid of the word “hate”?
Ecclesiastes 3:8 A time to love and a time to hate; A time for war and a time for peace.
There is time to hate, there are things to hate.
Here is what troubles me, if God hates something or someone, and we love that something or someone or something, aren’t we going against God? Shouldn’t we love what God loves and hate what God hates?
