Those in favor of women’s ordination seem to use the same lines over and over. We spent X amount of time studying this with prayer. We spent time in the Bible and listen to all views…. But what I never see from that side is Bible verses. This should be the first clue that women’s ordination is of the world. I can show verse after verse that make it clear, leadership in the church is not the woman’s place.
1 Corinthians 11:3 But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.
It’s clear that the man is the head of woman, so how can a woman be a leader of a church? That would make her his leader, or him hers, or wait, now he’s the leader, then she is, oh, wait, are we in church, oh, wait, I can’t remember, who’s the leader now?? That’s just confusion, God doesn’t work that way..
Ephesians 5:22 Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body.…
If a wife is to submit herself to her husband, how can she be the pastor of his church as that would make her the head of him. How can he be the head of her, but she’s the head of him, but no, he’s the head of her, but wait, she’s the head of him…. again, God doesn’t work in confusion.
Some WO (woman’s ordination) proponents try and say that the husband is the head of the house, so that doesn’t mean in the church. They also say that this only applies to “family”. They are refusing to understand scripture, because it is clear, “the head of the woman is man”. You can read the entire chapter of 1 Corinthians 11, or even the whole book, they are not speaking of family.
On this page (click here) I have 21 sermons about WO, but I think the 2 verses I put up earlier in this article say it all.
Are we to be humble?
I just don’t understand how this can’t be clear to so many. If there is a controversy like this, where something you want to do looks like it might be contrary to the Bible, I mean just looks to be not clear, wouldn’t it be best to take the safest rout? You know, just to make sure… Those verses I posted, even if they don’t appear to be 100% clear to everyone, at least throw out some doubt on WO. I would think that a woman of God, being humble, would realize that this might not be what God wants, so to be safe, would not take on the role of pastor or elder.
Then, in that same line of thought. With so many who feel it’s wrong, wouldn’t you just “not” do it, to maintain peace? It’s never been done in the Bible, no woman has ever been the leader of a church. Why would you push to be a pastor if many, including the general conference, feel it’s wrong? If a woman has a message, no one is stopping her from telling it. You don’t need to be a leader of the church to spread God’s message.
My opinion is that these women who want to be ordained in spite of the verses I put up, in spite of all the controversy, are power hungry. This is a normal human trait, to be in charge, to be in power. humility is hard for some. Maybe it’s because of the way I was raised, but if there is something I want to do, but it’s questionable, I take the side of caution. because God means more to me than… um me. I know that I am not pastor material, and yes, I would like to be the leader of a church, but I know it’s not my role in life.
Here are a few more verses that might bring light to this:
Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him
a helper [o]suitable for him.”
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in
sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband,
and he shall rule over thee.
How can the husband rule over the wife if she’s his pastor?
1 Timothy 2
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression
